OUR STORY

KARIBUNI VZW

The word 'Karibuni' means 'welcome, come in and see you soon'

It comes from Kiswahili, a multicultural and rich language spoken in many regions of East Africa. Therefore, with KARIBUNI VZW we strive to welcome everyone and to make everyone feel welcome to be themselves and to flourish.

We consider KARIBUNI VZW to be an entrance gate as well as a starting point for cultural diversity. Using education as our power source and goal, we fight for those impacted by ethnic discrimination, gender inequality and  poverty.

Throughout all our projects, you will find a common thread. We always aim to to awaken and empower each individual - regardless of their ethnic or socio-economic background - their sense of dignity, self-development and optimism.

THE NON PROFIT

Our non profit organisation was founded in 2012 by a group of men and women of Rwandan origin who had to flee political conflicts and found a new home in Belgium.

This is a reality that is, unfortunately, not rare, but it has given us a certain perspective on the hardships in developing as well as in developed countries.

It is thanks to the support of kind-hearted people, whom we now call friends, that we have the opportunity today to help others in need. These experiences and knowledge are the driving forces behind KARIBUNI VZW.
