ABOUT US

At KARIBUNI VZW, we don't organise standard holidays - we offer trips that will change your view of the world. After a successful first trip to beautiful Rwanda, we are now looking for a co-guide for the second edition of our trip. It will be an adventure of safaris, local encounters and maybe a little getting lost (but we always find our way back, we promise!). If you are an adventurer who works well together, has an explorer's heart and brings a good dose of humour, you might be our new hero in Rwanda!
THE POSITION
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
WHAT DO YOU GET OUT
OF IT?
INTERESTED?
As a co-guide, you will be one of three (yes, three!) tour guides who together keep everything on track. You don't have a cape, but you make sure the group always feels safe, welcome and entertained, regardless of whether they are 18 or 60 years old. You make sure no one feels lost, even if you've accidentally managed to get yourself on the wrong plane once (we hope this doesn't happen, but you stay calm!). You work with the other guides to make sure everything runs smoothly and that the group has a great time.
Leading a group of 10 to 12: You make sure everyone is comfortable, from the youngsters looking for adventure to the older travellers who especially like to know where the nearest coffee shop is. You will be the point of contact for everyone, making sure everyone gets the most out of the trip - from nature walks to unexpected cultural discoveries.
Collaborate with the team of guides: You'll work with 2 other guides who are just as enthusiastic as you to make a great trip. As a team, you will take care of planning, logistics, and maybe even a bit of humour during the long drives - a good joke is sometimes just as important as the right route.
Organising activities: You help plan all kinds of cool activities, from nature walks to meetings with locals. And yes, you make sure the group is on time (after all, you don't control the traffic, but you do control the time!).
Playing the cultural guide (if possible): You share everything you know about Rwanda - from the food to the history, from the mountains to the local traditions. No boring lectures, but lively stories that you discover together with the group. So some looking-up is a bonus!
Problem solving with flair: Sometimes something goes wrong (yes, it happens!), and then you're the person who stays calm and says, ‘No problem, we'll fix this!’ (If you have ever tried to get 10 people in one taxi without stressing, you are up for this challenge).
Safety and well-being: You make sure everyone feels safe - both physically and emotionally. And yes, that means occasionally taking responsibility for saying, ‘No, you really can't climb up the mountain in sandals.’
An adventurous spirit over 21 years old who is not afraid of a bit of chaos (because yes, every trip has its surprises!).
Experience in guiding groups is nice, but we are especially looking for someone who can work well together and is not afraid to take charge when needed (but you always keep your team close!).
You can communicate well with anyone, whether they are 18 or 60 years old - and you have no problem putting people at ease.
You have a love or curiosity for Rwanda and its culture, and are not afraid to share that passion with others (even if it means teaching people a few words of Kinyarwanda).
You have a problem-solving attitude - from ‘Where did the bus go?’ to ‘What do we do if the rain suddenly pours down?’. You always have a plan B (and maybe even a C).
You have a positive, energetic attitude and make sure everyone keeps smiling - even when the WiFi is down again (which for you is an opportunity to be offline, right?).
The chance to join a team of 2 other guides on an unforgettable trip - and maybe even discover your own leadership skills.
An experience in Rwanda that you will cherish forever, and probably make your friends' mouths water (and you will have a wonderful travel story for the rest of your life).
The chance to further develop your organisational skills and challenge yourself in a very different environment.
A hefty dose of adventure, which means no day is the same - and you'll always learn something new, even from a lost bag or an unpredictable sandstorm.
We cover 50% of your airfare, transport and accommodation.
Appreciation for your efforts - and who knows, you might even get an ‘I Love Rwanda’ t-shirt at the end of the trip (because everyone deserves a souvenir!).
Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime and want to help our travellers discover Rwanda in all its glory? Send your motivation and a brief description of your experience to Claudine Mizero at vzw.karibuni@gmail.com .

We can't wait to join you on this amazing journey - let the adventure begin!
